Shiori in Maryland

Three days have passed since I came back to Japan. How fast the time passes! For these three days, whatever I do, I’m always thinking about my stay in Maryland with Nina, Shirley, the mentors, and my friends. I miss them a lot now. It was the third time to go to America in my life, and it was the best trip for me. I really enjoyed it. Now, every night, I dream of being with the mentors and my friends. On the last day, I cried a lot when I had to say good-bye at the airport, and now, I’m so sad more than I had guessed at that time.

Anyway, I’m happy that I could experience such a wonderful thing and spend such a wonderful time!! I’m glad to have such precious memories. I’ll never forget those two weeks in Maryland, and such nice people that I met there, of course. I would like to appreciate all the people who make me feel like this. I could learn many important things through this trip. I want to thank all of you.

Now, I want to drink bubble tea at the restaurant between the university and the hotel!!

Lake Artemesia

Yesterday, I went to Lake Artemesia after the class. At first, no one knew where the lake was, so we walked for a long time. Finally, we found water and had a rest in a gazebo in the lake. It was very cool and nice place!! I felt so good that I almost slept. On the way to the hotel, I went to drink bubble tea again!! Then I drank honey milk bubble tea again :) It was very yummy^^

By the way, there are only two more days that I can be with Nina and the mentors, I feel sad about that and I really want to enjoy the rest of my stay.

Weekend

On Friday, I went to Nina’s house!! It was a very cute house and I thought I wanted to live in the house like that. I met Nina’s family. Her husband is so kind, and her daughter is so cute!! I was happy that I could meet them. After that, I went to Karaoke!! I had not been to karaoke since I was in the second grade in high school. So I really enjoyed it and I was happy to see smiles on the face of all the participants^^

On Saturday, I went to Annapolis by bus. It was the very nice and beautiful place!! I wish I could have stayed there longer. I want to visit there again. After exploring Annapolis, I enjoyed cruising. My friend and I were on the top of the boat, then wind and wave made us so excited. After I returned to College Park, I went to eat dinner with the mentors. Then I explored the university with my roommate. We talked about many things. It is called “girl talk”. I love it!!

Now, I have drunk Bubble tea for four days!! I really like it and my favorite flavor is honey milk tea^^ I want to drink it today, too :)

Inter-American Development Bank

Good morning!! On Thursday, I played bowling with Laura and my friends. We played 5 games so I have sore muscles now :(

I went to Inter-American Development Bank yesterday. My major is International Economics so I’m interested in that. I ate lunch at Cafeteria in IDB, and it was very big. It was the second time that I ate fruits since I arrived in Maryland. After I finished lunch, I went to the conference room and heard the presentation about IDB. They explained how they became interested in working at the bank, and I was so impressed. I decided that I’m going to try to do something that I really want to do. After the tour of IDB, I went to Starbucks in Chinatown with my friend. I’m working at Starbucks in Japan, and I tried Shaken Blueberry Iced tea that I can not drink in Japan!! It was American taste!!

Supermarket

Good morning!! Yesterday, I went to a huge supermarket near the hotel. It was too big to look at all the things. I was looking at sweets area for a long time!! I like caramel in chocolates or cookies so I bought them a lot :) I was happy when I was surrounded by many candies and chocolates!! After I finished shopping, I went to Hard time café and ate chicken wings for dinner. I spent good time with mentors and my friends. At night, everyone got together in one room, and we had a party!! It was really fun!! I want to do that again :)

Shopping

Good afternoon!! I went to Pentagon city yesterday. There is a huge shopping mall and I was very surprised. I went to many shops, for example, Bath &Body Works or Sweets Factory. Both of them are my favorite shops!! I walked around with my friend, Kana, and we talked in English all the time. It was good practice to speak English and I enjoyed it :-) I ate cinnamon pretzel for dinner at Auntie Anne’s. It was really good!! It reminded me of my junior high school days because I used to eat it when I had lived in Indonesia. At last, I bought two earrings, and I was happy because the mentors chose the best one for me. I thanked them. I walked a lot yesterday, so I’m very sleepy today. I’m looking forward to going to supermarket after class.

The fifth day

Today is the fifth day of my trip!!
I don’t have jet lag nowJ
I went to see the monuments and walk a lot yesterday, so I could know American history.
I ate Japanese noodles for a lunch and drank bubble tea at night.
It is hot and humid everyday.
Today I will be able to eat special ice cream!!

Hello, my name is Shiori Araki. I arrived in Maryland yesterday!! Today is the 2nd day,but I have jet lag(>_<)
